A Study On Standards Of Information Resources Organization

The construction of standards is the base of network informationorganization, especially in the 21st century. Information resources are rapidlyincreasing with the prompt development of network and rapid growth in thequantity, category and style of network information resources. In the face ofdistributing, heterogeneous, changing, open information resources andservice condition, various information systems need setting up its owndepicting system of standards and criterion, according to unified principle,framework and basic manner, the standards and criterion in various levelswhich should be followed is prescribed, in order to support the effective use,extensive obtaining and long-term saving information.This article consists of five parts. At first, it introduces informationresource organization and standards of it. In succession, it analyses andcompares the standards of different stages and tapes information resourcesorganization from three facts. Lastly, it analyses standardization ofinformation resources organization in some digital library cases under thecomplex information resources environment, expecting to find the trend of its development.In the first part, the thesis introduces some definitions and its contentsabout information resources, information resources organization, informationstandards and the standards of information resources organization. At thesame time, the structure and the meaning of this thesis are introduced briefly.The second part is the study of bibligraphy metadate standards based onAACRⅡtradition information resources orgniaztion. It mostly describesstandards of information resources description and Standards of informationresources indexing under tradition literature information resourcesenvironment, at the same time, discusses the development and applicationunder current network environment.In the third part, the thesis study on standards of information resourcesorganization based on computer processing. It describes the origin and thedevelopment of MARC into the unified international standards, alsodiscusses its challenge and development under current network environment.The fourth part is study on standards of network information resourcesorganization based on metadata. Network information resources organizationstandards is researched from the aspects such as resources depictingstandards, resources depicting framework and resources organization markuplanguage and so on.In the fifth part, the cases of digital library information resourcesorganization at home and abroad are analyzed. Several standards used in information resources in digital library at home and abroad are selected andtheir own advantages and disadvantages are analyzed, in order to find itsdevelopment trend.
