The measurement of oxygen saturation in blood has great significance in clinical and daily health care. In traditional oxygen saturation measure instrument , it uses cable , and it brings many discomfort to the patient . The aim of this system is to monitor the health of the patient using Bluetooth wireless technology with respect to specific parameters such as SaO2 . This overcomes one of the drawbacks of the current system ,which is not suitable for an ambulatory patient since the patient is wired into the system. It brings convenience to the patients ,and creats condition for family health monitoring and long range medical treatment . And with the use of ARM9 embeded gateway , the oxygen saturation measure instrument can be connected to the Internet . From the angle of development , the medical monitoring instruments will be wireless and will be connected to the net in the future .In this paper , the oxygen saturation measure instrument is introduced firstly . It uses AT89C51 as the MCU. The MCU drives the red light diode and the infrared ray diode alternately by its control signal . Then the signal getting from the photosensor will be sent to the A/D channel after magnification and filter operation. After calculation, the MCU will send SaO2 and pulse frequency to the embeded gateway by its serial port .Different from the traditional lineate transmission , the connection between the oxygen saturation measure instrument and the embeded is wireless through Bluetooth . Bluetooth serial port adapter is used in this system. It can be regarded as a serial port cable. After writing data to its serial port, the data will be transmitted to the instruments faraway .In this paper , Samsung corporation's S3C2410 chip is used as the embeded gateway's MCU. The data getting from the serial port will be transmitted from the net port based on Linux Operation System . It realized the connection of remote network .The simple gateway between serial port instrument and Internet is proved work well by experiment. Through this emdeded gateway , the Bluetooth instrument in this system can be connected to local net and Internet in shot distance . And it realizes the connection between oxygen saturation measure instrument and remote monitoring center .Finally, a summarization is produced, and the future work about this system is also discussed .
