Abundant oxygen is the material basis of all the life, and oxygen saturation is an important parameter to reflect the oxygen in blood. Oxygen saturation refers to the percentage between the maximum amount of oxygen combined with the hemoglobin in blood and the actual amount. Timely detection of the oxygen level in the blood is crucial to sustain life and to judge whether the human respiratory system or circulatory system have problems. In general, measuring blood oxygen saturation can estimate the oxygen level in the blood of the human body in clinical diagnosis.In this paper, the body’s oxygen saturation as research object, studies how the image processing methods apply in oxygen saturation monitoring, for example, how to sample and gray scale transform, how to choose the color model, how to determine threshold of threshold segmentation, how to determine wavelet and threshold of wavelet threshold de-noising, and how to search peaks. This thesis particularly gives a detail study of wavelet threshold de-noising algorithm in the blood oxygen saturation monitoring application and evaluates the accuracy when different wavelet functions, different threshold functions and different threshold are applied in the blood oxygen saturation monitoring. In addition, this thesis uses extreme peak searching algorithm to detect peaks and valleys, to further improve the accuracy of blood oxygen saturation monitoring.Through multiple sets of field experimental results show that the de-noising algorithm used Coiflet5wavelet, hard threshold function, heuristic threshold and the extreme peak searching algorithm have a higher signal-to-noise ratio. Based on the method to design Android smart phone application, comparison of professional instrument for measuring oxygen saturation, the accuracy rate was about98%. It can be measured accurately in a very convenient situation, so this topic is innovative and has a practical value.Finally, based on the research, developed an Android blood oxygen saturation monitoring software, and can help people knowing their oxygen level in the blood anytime or anywhere.
