This paper, which based on GIS, finished the application study of Spatial Database in Colliery Monitoring System. This system breaks the limitations of traditional database based on the applications of the letters and number information; it can be also used to store and analyze mass information with complex structure. The data of Colliery Monitoring System are mass and real-time, so this paper studies the store model and query way of monitor data in colliery, achieve fast access of monitor data in colliery.. This will make it easier to analyze and forecast colliery monitor information, and provide technology supporting for decision and analysis in colliery. This paper achieves the storing of monitoring data in colliery with Oracle spatial. Under Visual Basic 6.0 and MAPX., this paper finishes the development of Colliery Monitoring System.The design process of Spatial Database was introduced in detail. This paper was divided into several main parts as follows:Firstly, the conception of GIS and study actuality of spatial database were introduced, and the application meaning of spatial database using on Colliery Monitoring System was analyzed.Secondly, the key technologies, which should be solved during building Spatial Database, were analyzed in detail aiming to the problems which will be met in building Spatial Database.Thirdly, states the plat form of building spatial database, the acquisition method of spatial data.Fourthly, states the principle of building Spatial database, demand analysis, the building process of Spatial Database:conceptual model, logical model and physical model. This paper builds the spatial database under Oracle, and the design of table structure, data communication and Spatial Database index were analyzed and introduced.Fifthly, states the design and realization of software.
