With the explosive growth of the network scale and the emergence of a lot of new services,how to improve the QoS of the network becomes the problem. The traditional Internet Protocol fails to address the problem of network congestion and performance degradation resulting from the inefficient resource allocation under heavy traffic load. Therefore, to optimize the network resource utilization and to avoid the network congestion have become the major task of Internet Traffic Engineering.MPLS (Multi-protocol Label Switching) takes good use of the switching technology of the core of network and the IP routing technology of the edge of network, so it can help to optimizing the utilization of network resource and improving the performance of network.Taking use of Multi-Protocol Label Switching with its efficient support of recovery mechanism provides basic methods for facilitating Traffic Engineering. Therefore, fault recovery has become an important research area in MPLS Traffic Engineering.The backup path should be pre-configured for the protected LSP by MPLS fault recovery mechanism in order to ensure that the reliable application can get fast recovery treatment. Unfortunately, the backup path configuration will lead to the degradation of network performance for that it consumes a large sum of bandwidth resources in case of heavy traffic load.The paper explores the classified fault recovery mechanisms of MPLS Traffic Engineering, in view of enhancing the network resource utilization and reducing the bandwidth consumption and enhancing the performance of operational network, while simultaneously providing reliable network operations.Presently many fault recovery mechanism are based on single model.Although they all have their own advantages,they can only apply the same fault recovery operation to faults of all flow.This paper brings fault recovery machenism and diffserv model together into consideration,and provide a classified fault recovery mechanism based on MPLS.In order to classify the different requirements of service,RD-Qos is introduced.The mechanism first classify the flow waiting to be recoveried into different classes,then notificate the recovery class requirements within the MPLS network,which is supported by protocol.LSR provides relevant recovery mechanism according to the recovery class.It can meet the requirement of business,and reduce resource consumption of recovery system in the mean time. At last,the paper use NS2 to realize the classified fault recovery machenism based on MPLS and evaluate the performance of it.
