The economic importance of the Internet, the increasing complexity of the network technologies and the huge amount of traffic transported require sophisticated fault recovery mechanisms against failures like fiber cuts or node breakdowns. Network fault recovery has become a key research issue for IP-based transport networks.Fault recovery mechanisms in physical layer can provide fastest recovery speed ,but worse granularity. The IP rerouting is slower and it may decouple performance of service. The recovery mechanism in MPLS layer is the appropriate layer to resist the fault because MPLS can provide better granularity and faster recovery speed . So network fault recovery research in this paper is based on MPLS. Fault recovery mechanisms of Inter-Area DS-TE is a important research field.There are some research task in whether theory or practice. Especially, fault protection algorithm in the inter-area needs to discuss.The important achievements are outlined as follows:Path protection mechanism in the Inter-Area DS-TE: The current fault protection mechanism is limited in an area, so it needs to be enhanced to make it more applicable. It's necessary to be extended from an area to an AS. Furthermore, we propose an inter-area path protection mechanism and the routing algorithm .Link protection mechanism for fault link with ABR: Taking importance of ABR and limit of backup resources in account, So we propose a link protection mechanism and the routing algorithm .
