CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK is a kind of multi-host net introduced byBOSCH company for the application of modern automobile. Due to itsprominent performance the technology has been applied widely in fields suchas industrial automation, various control equipments, as well as environmentalcontrolling. With its specifications the CAN bus has been regarded asinternational standard and one of the most promising CAN buses. This paperelaborates comprehensively the process of production and development of theCAN bus, summarizes the features of the CAN bus superior to any other fieldbus, and brings up the idea of applying the CAN bus to practical production. Aprogram of tempreture controlling based on the CAN bus is advanced in thispaper as well. According to the structure of the system, the design approach isdescribed in length from two aspects—realization of node-controller and ofintelligent node. Meanwhile, a practical circuit of node-controller and intelligentnode is assembled to test the feasibility and stability of the system. Somemodified suggestions in the design process are also put forward in order toimprove the system increasingly. The results of the experiment welldemonstrate that the CAN bus can be applied to practical production with itslow cost and high efficiency so the system elaborated in this paper is practicalconsiderably.
