As the liquid crystal display (LCD) panel become larger than before, the low efficiency of the backlight limits the development of LCD TV. It is necessary to develop a high efficiency backlight for LCD TV.This thesis analyzes the background and research situation of the backlight home and abroad, and investigates the radiation principle, the driver topologies and resonant circuit of cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL). What's more, a saber simulation model of CCFL was established, which can optimize parameter during the process of designing its driver circuit. Based on that, this paper proposed a high DC voltage input scheme and implement a LCD TV backlight integrated solution: the adapter and inverter of the LCD TV can be integrated into one board .The adapter adopted a two-stage approach, which consist of a power factor correction (PFC) stage and a dc/dc stage. In the inverter design, the circuit operates at zero voltage swiching and zero current swiching. A multi-lamps driver for CCFL with current balance and dimming function was achieved in this paper. The integration board not only improves the efficiency, but also enhances the appearance of LCD. At last, we get a favorable effect as the piezoelectric transformer was introduced to backlight.Adopting the proposed approach, a LCD Integrated Power Supply(LIPS) sample product is manufactured in our lab. The experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed approach.
