With the rapid development of the hardware of embedded system,embedded system has nowadays been widely employed in the field ofindustrial control. Among others, Linux, as a result of its fast developmentand its open source principle, is now the most popular OS in the field ofembedded system and in the field of industrial control. Besides, the GUIapplied in the embedded system is also more and more widely. Despite thefact that there have already been a great many GUI systems specificallydesigned for Linux and other embedded systems in the world, these GUIsystems still cannot satisfy the need of the field of industrial control bothin the aspect of speed and function, giving the special requirements of realtime and also some particular functions by the field of industrial control.Specifically speaking, even those excellent GUI systems cannot providesufficient support for the waveform display and data process in the field ofindustrial control. In addition, because the embedded system itself issubject to its insufficient ability of computing and storage, a waveformmonitor based on existing GUI system is not fit for industrial control incomputing velocity. Therefore, the field of industrial control falls short of aGUI system that is specifically designed for it.The author, after studying the existing popular GUI systems, buildsa GUI system which not only satisfies the requirements of real time andfunctions by the field of industrial control and GUI respectively but alsopossesses the function of a waveform monitor for the industrial control.The specific research work is described as following:1. Investigate embedded system. Through studying the embeddedsystem, realize the history, characteristic and development of embeddedsystem. The main task is to know the embedded system's characteristic for designing the GUI system.2. Analyze and study the existing GUI system in world, design theframe for this paper's GUI system. After studying and analyzing theexisting GUI system's characteristic and method of how to realize, and theexisting GUI's merit and disadvantage, the author design a frame for theGUI system.3. Build the module in the core layer and the waveform monitor forthis research's GUI system. After research the function of embeddedindustrial control equipment, design and build the function module inevery layer.4. Realize the modules in the GUI system in computer language.Embedded Linux GUI system is built on Linux system and C lib, so theauthor use C and C++ computer language to realize it. And provide theuser though Win32 API.
