Computer Cluster is the technology that many computers are united and organized to execute tasks as a unified and more powerful machine by resources integration and task scheduling. With the improvement of the computer hardware, the high availability and scalability of the Cluster have provided a reliable platform for data redundancy and high performance computing. With the development of computer network, especially that of Grid Computing, people have had greater and greater demands on high performance computing. However, decided by the architecture of a cluster, all nodes must be located in the same LAN, which prevents a cluster from extending outside. Besides, lack of communications of temporary computing data among different nodes reduces the computing efficiency of the whole cluster. This thesis introduces the development and the current researches of Computer Cluster and file sharing search, describes the characteristics and advantages as the technical basis of Active Directory and Virtual Machine, beside the advantages and the principle of the representative Cache search strategy in detail, points out the shortcomings of a cluster by analyzing the architecture and correlative technologies, establishes a model of a cluster over WAN with the assistance of virtual machine technologies, analyzes the intersections of the cluster over WAN and Cache search strategy, puts forward a strategy of file sharing search based on Search Agent in a cluster over WAN to realize communications with temporary computing data among different nodes, and demonstrates the feasibility of the model and policies by carrying out different testings.
