"A Bloody Incident Triggered by A Steamed Bun" made by Hu Ge, which hadbeen widely disseminated on the Internet, produced tremendous influence on society. As a result, all kinds of "Kuso" works appear over the Internet. With the sweeping of"A Bloody Incident Triggered by A Steamed Bun" among Net-surfers, the word"Kuso" gets very popularized in current time, and it becomes the first key word forChinese Internet in 2006. Hu Ge and his vidio originated a so-called "Kuso Age" ofthe Internet.Although there's a large variety of kuso works, they are identical in essence:kuso reutilizes object's attention resource. Kuso is created by netizen with the help ofnetwork software, and mainly depends on network tools transmitting itself. Internetprovides a cyberspace for kuso to exist and disseminate. As far as the particulardiffusion process is concerned, kuso is very similar to infectious viruse, the processcan be summarized as "self-replicating without cost". Object's attention resourcefrom audience provides kuso with power to disseminate. While in the process ofkuso's dissemination, the role of gatekeeper is challenged, and the meaning of objectis shared and recreated by audience. When the attention resource is finally exhausted, kuso works will lose audience's concern and fall out of our sight. As far as the social effects are concerned, the breakout and overflowing of kusoworks is a great feast of net-consumption, and a crazy party under virtual masks.Kuso has not only positive effects but also negative ones, we can not give anexclusive judgement depending on its single aespect. On the other hand, kuso isgenerally criticized because of the extremity of its expression and viewpoints. Kusois a test of the social tolerance, we should take a prudent attitude toward kuso, andtry our best to make full use of its' advantages while avoiding disadvantages.
