Mao Jin(1599-1658), borned in Qixingqiao Town of Changshu City of Jiangshu Province, firstly named Fengbao, styled himself Zijiu ,and Dongmei before growing-up. Laterly changed his given-name into Jin. Styled himself zijin and named himself Qianzai, later Yinhu, he is also called jigu master, Yueshi daoren etc. The place where he lived is called Jigu or Lvjun pavilion etc. who was a famous book-collecter and great publisher between the late Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty. he would rather spend much money for books, the totel of which was 84 thousand. published many books in his life, he published more than 100 thousands books which included more than 600 of his own. Including history, poetry, novels, notesand so on, which made him the porson who had the most private engraving books in Chinese History, he was working at publishing books all himself and made outstanding contributions ti spreading Chinese Culture.The article researches this problem in four parts. The first part deals with some deeds in his life and the books he studied. mao's life experience and character make a great contribute to his block-printed edition and also decided his thought. He studied Buddhist after finish publishing, and the books he stored set a model for his work.. The second part makes a research in to Mao's activity of publishing, sorts his activity according to the chart in Mr. Qian dacheng Chronicle of Mao zijin. Inspect comprehensively the characteristics, nature, scope of his books, and grasp his block-printed edition macroscopically.The third part analyses Mao's literature outlook , the author thinks that his literature outlook determined his choice greatly besides the needs of the readers of his society and the prompt of economic benefit. So Mao jin is a writer as well as a publisher, he wrote a lot of books and had his own standard of evaluation and idea of accepting or rejecting. For the limitation of the space of the page, the article only study roughly his poems, lyrics and tunes according to the analysis of those in the postscript of Jigu pavilion.The forth parts explores the condition of surviving or vanishing and circulates of the edition of Jigu pavilion, it make an emphasis on the evaluation of Mao's right or wrong , giving an objective view of his effect.
