The combination of the flexible efficient Labeled Optical Burst Switching (LOBS) and Generalized Multi-protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) which supports huge flow and long distance reliable transport, leads a new direction for next generation optical network. Based on the embedded Linux Operation System, design and implementation of network management agent in LOBS network is researched with Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).Requirements for LOBS network management are firstly analyzed, including topology monitoring, performance management, arithmetic parameter configuration, controlling of MPLS protocol and initiation LSP in GMPLS network.Then the research results for existing LOBS network management point unreasonable software structure. A new model is introduced as an interface between Agent and lower equipment. This action reduces Agent development complexity. Configuration information for LOBS Border Controllers and managements for burst transportation are also discussed. In other words, wavelength information and create/delete LSP are added.Compared with other software tools, Wind manage SNMP is more acceptable. With it, Agent development flow comprises four parts, including network communication, SNMP realization, management information base and Interface module. Extending private LOBS Mib is discussed in detail.At last results from test bed shows the design can monitor state of LOBS network effectively and initiate create/delete LSP correctly. And the size of Agent program is about 200k. So LOBS network management is realized.
