Recently, multimedia streaming over the Internet is booming. However, the traditional design idea of internet mode made a inherent gaps and constraints of the development of stream technology that is to meet the needs of end-to-end unicast communication, also it easily lead to such as the waste of resources of the streaming media server and network performance bottlenecks and other problems. So the streaming quality is generally unsatisfactory for large-scalable broadcasting, To solve this problem researchers proposed three solutions: First, The Content Delivery Network (CDN) media proxy server technology, but this approach has the limiting factor of expensive cost. Second, IP multicast, a network layer service that allows a single source to distribute a data stream to many simultaneous receivers in an efficient manner, but because of the complex nature of the protocol itself, heterogeneous networks, and the lack of reliable multicast support, extensiable congestion control mechanism , this solution also has its own inherent limitations and difficult to deploy. In order to improve the QoS of Streaming over the Internet effectively and easily, the third solution, media distribation over P2P network is proposed. This technology changed the multicast function from network layer to the application layer. In this paper, we gave an overview of the latest P2P technology and the technical aspects of streaming media framework on P2P networks, including multimedia encoding technology for network transmission, the QoS control technology of the media streaming application layer ,and the multimedia transfer protocol, Then this paper presents a new P2P real-time Streaming model: MMTV, this system achives a better tradeoff among bandwidth eficiency, delay and reliability. We emphasize five salient features of MMTV: 1) ease of implementation, distribution network topology, but not complicated P2P Group Management Protocol 2) Robustness , Node is not dependent on any other specific nodes, so it has a strong stability and reliability; 3) network with a rapid reaction capacity to respond quickly left to join node 4) bandwidth adaptability; 5) the lower delay of the entire network nodes.
