Design And Implementation Of Parlayx Gateway Based On Softswitch

Next Generation Network (NGN) is the integrated product of tranditional telecommunication network and Internet network. NGN separates the Call Control from the Carrier Network and achieves the separation of the Service Control and the Call Control. Based on these two separations, the implementation of services is independent of the netwok. So it is possblie to build cross-network services.In the NGN, Softswitch is the core control entity. And it provides real-time call control function and connection control function. In order to separate the Service Control and the Call Control, Softswitch provides Open Service Interface for the application layer. And this interface commonly uses Parlay/OSA as standard.Although Parlay/OSA API supplies a open, common telecom interface, it is still very completcated . User must have strong telecom background. Coupled with using CORBA distributed computing technology, it is hard to use Parlay API. Meanwhile, Web Service is showed up, which is easier to use than CORBA. Then ParlayX based on the Web Service is defined. And ParlayX abstract the telecom network capability to a higher level, provies the developer a more friendly open service interface to use.This article studies various NGN service supply technologies, analyse the advantage of ParlayX. And build a ParlayX platform over the Softswitch. My more detailed work is followed:1．Analyse and make a comparison of NGN's main service interface including CPL, SIP, JAIN and Parlay. At last confirm the important role of ParlayX.2．Make a deep and detailed comparison of ParlayX and ParlayAPI. Get the conclusion: ParlayX is a service interface not a network ability interface.3．Design and implement a ParlayX Gatway based on the Ark Softswitch. Build a message transport platform. Realise the Third Party Call using this platform.
