This project is funded by State Development Planning Commission, numbered 2141 in SDPC high-tech projects of year 2002, and is also one of the Science-Tech Key Projects of Hayao-Cihang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.Focused on the research and development of the intelligent control system for concentration process of Chinese Traditional Medicines (CTM) production, it is covered in this thesis that analysis of the technologic process of concentrate, research on the sensors and soft measuring technology applied in the system, control methods for concentration, and design and development of the intelligently control system as well.Firstly, it is generalized in this thesis that the technologic process of the concentration procedure of CTM production, and the key parameters for accurate measurement and stability control. Based on the purpose, it carries out kinds of advanced sensors and soft measuring technology, which lead to an accurate measurement of the parameters. Some key points are mentioned in detail that should be taken into account for the intelligent control system of concentration. Because of the concentration procedure is featured in multi-variability, long time delay, strong coupling and destabilization, a novel intelligent control strategy is proposed, combined with Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) and Model-Free Adaptive (MFA) control, through which the result of off-line method with SQP gives an optimal value on the rate of dual-effect concentration, and maximizes the capacity of liquid medicine, in favor of the concentration and quality of the products. On the other hand, by adjusting the temperature and pressure during concentration, MFA enables the system to reach a steady and effective automatic production of the whole concentration of CTM production. In addition, the effects of practical application prove that the control strategies have excellent performance.Based on theoretical research, a set of intelligent control system is completed with an IPC as its core part, including sensor, valve, data integrate card etc. The testing results declare that this system have good performance with high sensibility and steadiness. All of its indexes match or even exceeded the national standard. Meanwhile, this system successfully reaches the demand of quality control and improves the efficiency of concentration.
