As we known, Chinese medicinal herb is our national treasure, and it plays a decisive role in the history of traditional Chinese medicine's development. Look back upon the past years, Traditional usage of herbs is "decocting medicinal material crude slices when want to take". In 80's, many hospitals have set up rooms of decocting medicinal herbs in China to meet the sickness'demands. Since the entering into the WTO, China has been faced with keen competition of international market in Chinese medicinal herbs. Our government has regarded "innovation and modernization of traditional Chinese medicine"as an important scientific and technological project, in order to speed up promoting innovations in medicine research and make medicine modernization on a big scale. Therefore, the Computing School of Sichuan University has cooperated with Lv Yao Company of Sichuan in researching a new kind of auto-dispensing system for formula particles of traditional Chinese medicine. The paper's major researching work is based on the theory and practice of auto-dispensing system. The main concrete details of the researching work are as follows: 1. The first chapter demonstrates the necessity, feasibility and importance of researching auto-dispensing system for formula particles of traditional Chinese medicine, through investigating the present condition and prospect of development in whole market of Chinese medicinal crop, and synthesizing the current technology. 2. The second chapter expounds the overall design scheme of auto-dispensing system for formula particles of traditional Chinese medicine, and its major features. 3. The third chapter expounds the design idea and realization of the hardware part of auto-dispensing system for formula particles of traditional Chinese medicine. It explains at some length medicine shelf, store medicine bottle, medicine cup, and so on, these hardware constitutions of auto-dispensing system. Specially, auto-dispensing system is superior to existing ware products of domestic market in quantitative medicine. 4. The fourth chapter expounds the design idea and realization of the software part of auto-dispensing system for formula particles of traditional Chinese medicine. It explains at some length the PC information manage system, and PLC control system. 5. On the basis of introducing the principle of PLC and S7-200 PLC in the fifth chapter, the sixth chapter lays special stress on the studying of application and implementation of free port communication in data transmission between PC and S7-200 PLC, and expounds the design ideas and implementation of PLC program and VB program in detail. According to comparing free port communication program with the similar software program of Siemens, the former increases highly the rate of data transmission between computer and S7-200 PLC, and running at a stable level. 6. The seventh chapter firstly introduces Branch and Bound algorithm in brief, and lays stress upon the researching of application of Branch and Bound algorithm in optimizing path of dispensing medicine. Compared with sequential method, Branch and Bound algorithm shortens efficiently the time of dispensing medicines. Auto-dispensing system for formula particles of traditional Chinese medicine has gigantic marketing potential. The second generation machine is running good, and the third generation machine is researching.
