Wireless sensor network, a new generation of sensor network, was formed by the combination of sensors embedded calculation, network and wireless communication technology. The wireless sensor network is widely applied in military, commercial, medical and environment monitoring fields, Because it is flexible and convenient. The wireless sensor network consists of a large quantity of sensor nodes whose power, calculation ability and bandwidth are so limited that traditional wireless routing protocol is not suitable for wireless sensor network, it is the key point to save power and prolong the lifetime of network in the research of wireless sensor network. In the article, we deeply research the router protocol of wireless sensor networks and do some work.First, Researching routing protocol of WSN is the main part of this dissertation. the current routing protocols of wireless sensor network are analyzed, aiming at the disadvantage that the protocols have high power dissipation and short lifetime.Second, on the based of the LEACH routing protocol, we analyzed the energy model, the arithmetic of decided cluster header and the algorithm of optimal the number of cluster. We also issue some advantages and disadvantages of LEACH protocol.Third, as result of every nodes in cluster can become cluster header by random, it is the same possible that low energy nodes has been elect cluster header. So, to change the bottle neck of network lifetime, we improve the LEACH routing protocol, and then name the enhanced routing protocol E-LEACH.Forth, in the E-LEACH protocol, we put forward the reserved power factor and the algorithmic process of the reserved power factor. Using the reserved power factor, we conclude the new probability threshold of self-elected.Fifth, three related routing protocols, Static Clustering(SC), Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) , Enhanced Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy(E-LEACH),are compared.Simulation results on ns2 platform demonstrates that the improved routing protocol (E-LEACH)enables the whole network has long lifetime on the low power level and has comparatively good power optimum property.
