With the fact that the advancement of society, development of economy and the prompt development of automobile industry after WTO, the amount of automobiles is increasing, in following, a series of problems such as traffic jam, vehicle steal become a safe trouble in people's daily life, vehicles supervisory control system using wireless communication technology, ARM technology and GPS location technology can resolve this problem effectively, satisfy the need for transporting efficiency and insurance, and bring about economic returns and social benefits greatly.By research and analyze the vehicle monitor system and relative technologies, a vehicle monitor system based on ARM and GPS is proposed. Because of the simple function, poor transplant, and having no operating system, the single chip system can only satisfy the simple controlling, compared with the traditional supervisory control system, this system overcome the shortcoming and can realize complicated supervisory control, such as demonstrating the complicated electron map, carrying out the complicated data calculation, even the network interconnection and web browse of high-tech product. At the same time, by adopting GPRS communication with great resource utilization, fast transmission, and rational charge, this system resolve the problems such as high communication cost and information lost existing in systems adopting SMS communication technology, and raise the real ability and reliability of the system.At first, this paper introduces GPS global position technology, GPRS(General Packet Radio Service) technology. The introduction of GPS technology includes GPS system composition, GPS signal and code, GPS position principles and GPS error, the introduction of GPRS technology includes the development of GPRS, the advantages and shortcomings, and problems existing in GPRS.In succession, this paper introduces the structure and function of the vehicle monitor system, the research and design of vehicle device, the research of supervisory center and the design of database. Vehicle device is composed of GPS position module, GPRS communication module, and ARM data handle module, supervisory center includes Internet device, center server device, monitor computers and a few auxiliary equipment etc. Vehicle device on the moving vehicle accept the GPS position message, and get the location coordinates by data control processor, the handled coordinates go through the GPRS module, finally, by GPRS communication network, the information is delivered to the data server of the supervisory center, and then deliver to monitor computers by the data server.
