Dual- wavelength and multi-wavelength lasers have become an international hot topic recent years. It is used extensively in interference rainbow holograph , fine laser spectrum ,differential absorption lidar , nonlinear frequency conversion ,laser medicine and so on .Solid state dual wavelength lasers are more important because it is compact and miniaturization ,which can provide high output power and the band it covers is more important .The all solid state lasers which can emit dual wavelengths simultaneously have great potential application in high brightness laser multicolor display ,laser multicolor print and other equipments and entertainments . The paper mainly studied Nd:YVO4 crystal and Nd: YVO4 crystal , and made theoretic and experimental research about the dual wavelength oscillation performance .The main contents of the paper are listed as follows :1. reviewed the history and development of all solid state lasers; introduced the laser crystals suitable for LD end pumping and their main performances; then generalized the research situation of dual wavelength lasers and the main research contents of the paper ;Reviewing the dewelopment of optical super-lattices materials;Conditions of applying and studying in present are described.Quasi-phase-match principle is introduced.2. based on the dual wavelength rate equation , and selecting Nd:YVO4 and Nd:GdVO4 as the gain media , With the three–mirror or two-mirror laser cavity , the dual wavelength lasers are studied theoretically and experimentally . stable dual wavelength continuous output or pulsed laser was achieved in experiment.3. A two-mirror resonant cavity was used for the Q-switched dual-wavelength operation of Nd:GdVO4 at 1342nm and 1063nm. Red and green lights were achieved by using PPLT and KTP as the harmonic generation crystals. When the incident pumping power was 14W and the pulse repetition rate was 15kHz,we obtained average output power of 587mW at 1063nm,1.13W at 1342nm,703mW at 532nm and 328mW at 671nm with the respective pulse durations of 23 ns , 55ns,18 ns and 43ns for quasi-cw operation.4. We designed a bicolor laser pumped by laser diodes of 808nm with the laser crystal of Nd:YVO4 that can be used Photodynamic therapy.
