The Uncooled Focal Plane Arrays(UFPA) imaging system is a high-tech product made by America in the middle of the nineties, but it is still a beginning in our country. UFPA imaging system is used widely in both military field and civilian field for it's many merits, and it is one of the focuses of current development in the field of thermal imaging system.Firstly the developmental history of IRFPA and infrared thermal imaging system is looked back briefly in the paper, and the character of ULIS's microbolometer infrared uncooled focal plane array detector is introduced. Then the method how to design and realize the circuit basis on Xilinx's Spartan-3 series FPGA is discussed. Finally, a summary is given about the image processing circuit system design of the infrared uncooled focal plane array thermal camera system,in addition the insufficiency is presented,all of these is the base of follow research on this uncooled thermal camera system.There are some distinguishing features in the hardware design of this system:(1) The thought of SOPC are used to accomplish the design of this system. The MicroBlaze MCU and others models are all realized in one FPGA, and this improves integration and stabilization of the system.(2) The hardware are used to deal with the IR images (such as modifying the nonuniformity), which enhance the realtime process performance of the IR image.(3) All design are accomplished with the language of VHDL,which makes the design and debugging more convenient.
