Design And Realization Of Police GIS

Geographic information system (GIS) is a branch of science which developed with the development of the geography, computer technology, RS and information science. GIS can show the data which have relation with the map to the user directly, therefore, it is widely used in many ways. Because of its powerful ability of spatial data processing, GIS is very suitable to be applied to the public security system.In this paper, one application of GIS is described, that is, how to apply GIS to police management to build up police GIS. Some functions of spatial query and spatial analysis for public security system are provided in this system. It can satisfy all work requirements in aspect of geographic location.Based on Chengdu City Police GIS, some key technology problems on designing and implementing this system are introduced in the paper, and a solution for them is put forward in detail. These technology problems include: the collection and input of geographic data; designing of spatial database; solving the problem of combination between property data and spatial data by geocoding and address matching; at last, some representative functions are introduced.At the same time, the whole designing course is proposed in the paper and the demand of the software and hardware environment which is essential to the system and the function of the system are described, which is a base of the system development. Finally, in order to perfect Chengdu City Police GIS, many improvements are put forward in the paper.The implementing course of Chengdu City Police GIS has practical reference to building other similitude geographic information system.
