Real-time image acquisition has wide applications in such fields as machine vision, Intelligent Video Surveillance, aided driving, military affairs, etc. The thesis developed a real-time video signal acquisition system for intelligent robot foot ball match. Simulation of specific target recognition has also been carried out.In hardware design, a SAA7114 chip was used for video signal decoding and A/D converting. The digitized video data may write into two high speed RAMs IS61LV5128AL and then read into a DSP chip TMS320C6204 of TI corporation for further image processing under the control of a CPLD chip EPM7128S, which generates the address and write/read signal based on video frame and line synchronization signal, by means of ping-pang operation.In software design, the initialization of SAA7114 was performed via I C bus. The CPLD logic was realized using VHDL under MAX+plus II environment. For purpose of real-time image recognition, the image segmentation algorithm and spherical target centroid algorithm were simulated under MATLAB. Then a fast algorithm for the determination of the centroid of a spherical target, the three-circular-points-method, was put forward. As the experiment shown, it was easy to carry out, small in calculating quantity and accurate, which was especially suitable for real-time image recognition.With above hardware and software and an additional serial port, digitized video data was sent to the computer and pictures with good quality have been obtained, indicating the correctness of the design of the whole system.
