Digital signal processor, due to strong operation capability and its special soft and hard structure, has been widely used in image processing. After studying the technologies and theories of DSP deeply, this thesis designs a video image processing system based on DSP. The system is mainly based on the features that DSP is handy, cheap and stable.Nowadays video monitor & control system often uses image card to acquire image, and its related work is often accomplished by computer, because the computer has high speed and large memory. But such computer video monitor & control system is bulky, expensive and unstable. After analyzing the features of DSP carefully, this thesis presents the selected principles of DSP. Through careful analysis and compare, we choose the DSP and other sections design, and then also introduce functions for each part.TMS320VC5416 is a kind of high-powered fixed-point digital signal processor produced by TI, and it has powerful hard structure, soft system and high frequency of 160MHz, so we use it for the image acquisition, processing and display. Whereas the circumstances, the video monitor & control system is presented that the TMS320C5416 works as the central processor to process the images, the video input processor performs image acquisition and the CPLD is used for finishing scheduling. Then circuit schematics and print circuit boards are designed. The thesis expatiates on the designed process of the system. The acquired images of the system are stored in the SRAM. If one frame is finished, an interrupt signal will be sent to DSP. Then DSP reads these data and processes them rapidly. This thesis also explains interface programs of all sections and FLASH programming methods. Furthermore, the processing of CPLD is introduced in detail.At last, introduce the software of video monitor & control system based on DSP/BIOS. We test the relative quality of the system, which obtains the desired properties.
