With the fast response, high capacity in information store, complex operation and logical judgment, excellent management ability and powerful networking ability, computer control system is essentially different from the early automatic system. Therefore, adopting computer control technology becomes one of the hot research subjects in pumping station automation and there are various applied researches and implied cases in China and abroad.To satisfy the times demand and development of situation, the paper deals with a pumping station automatic control system, which adopts computer control technology and runs without people (or with few people), adopts open and entire distributed pattern, is composed of pumping station control center system and local control unit, connects with province's flood fighting wide web or relevant web sites through 10/100M fiber Ethernet and realizes data share with the web of Department of Water Resources of ANHUI province. To satisfy heavier irrigation tasks for the time being, the system adopts PLC programmable controller to take place of traditional relay protection of power system. By researching of control strategy of set, we acquire optimum set control strategy, which is significant to improve stability of pumping station and economic benefit.In this paper, attention is concentrated on an altogether new computer control and protection system of pumping station, the system realizes to remote control on starting and stopping machines, which greatly improves the reliability and safety of pumping station. After the system is completed, it will be ahead in the pumping stations in ANHUI Province and become a high spot in the water project management modernization of ANHUI Province.
