With the development of manufacturing level and science technique,the automatic control systems get more and more complicated and systematic. When the controlled objects become complicated,the control accuracy and robustness of the normal PID decreases. In order to meet the control requirement of complex system,varies of advanced controllers are designed. Fuzzy PID controller is one of them.Fuzzy PID control unites both advantages of PID control and fuzzy control; it plays a very importance role in fuzzy control system.This essay introduces the application on fuzzy PID control in three-tank water level system. Firstly, PID control,fuzzy control and the basic principles of fuzzy PID control are introduced and the mathmetic model of three-tank water level control system is set up. And then the control system is set up based on MATLAB/Simulink. After that,fuzzy PID and the normal PID controllers' capabilities of following set-point, restraining disturbs and fitting changes on process model are studied by simulation in order to show their characteristic and applicability.The results of simulation show that the fuzzy PID controller has improved dynamic and static performance of control system and has obtained good control quality. That is to say,this control method is effective on systems such as three-tank water system.
