Embryonic bio-inspired hardware borrowed the concept of molecule biology, it laves the thinking of the increment process of multi-cell organism, and it make the hardware circuit having the ability of self-testing and self-repairing. Embryonic bio-inspired hardware is consisting of homogeneous 2-Dimension electrical cell array, the array is so-called embryonic array. Any digital logical function could be achieved by these arrays. This paper is about the structure researching and improvement of embryo arrays, two cell-circuits have been designed. The paper also discussed the self- repairing method. Memory self-repairing circuit based on extend hamming code correction has been designed.Firstly, this paper introduced the hardware researching background and rationale of embryonic bio-inspired hardware, summarized the current internal and external researching circumstances and developing prospect of this subject. After analyzing the structure and reconfiguration principle of embryonic arrays, two kinds of cell-circuit based on the look up table (LUT) have been designed. One is suitable for the designing of fixed digital logic circuit; the other is similar to the FPGA general array circuit. Secondly, the paper proposed an improved array aim for place and route conflict of current embryonic array. The paper discussed the two-level self-repairing mechanism of embryonic bio-inspired hardware, analyzed the self-testing and self-repairing principles of modules in the cell circuit. The paper expounded the method of applying extend hamming code in the cell memory on-line self-repairing circuit. Two memory self-repairing circuit aimed for two different cell circuit design projection have been finished. At last, this paper certified the functions and self-repairing abilities of both embryonic arrays circuits apart by using 4×4 parallel multiplier and serial data detector. Two-level self-repairing mechanism of embryonic bio-inspired hardware has been certified by adding memory self-repairing circuit into one cell of the array.Some conclusions as follow have been proved by simulation examples. (1) Both of the embryonic arrays which respectively make up of two kinds of cell circuits could have achieved prospective digital logic functions. And both of them could achieve array-level self-repairing by reconfiguration. (2) Improved embryonic array structure settled place and route problems during array's design in a certain extent. (3) Memory self-repairing circuit based on extend hamming code could achieve memories'on-line self-repairing function efficiently.This subject is funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China (60374008,90505013) and Aeronautic Science foundation of China(2006zd52044).
