The virtual laboratory, which appears with the development of network and virtual reality technique, is an effective solution to web-based experimental teaching. A web-based virtual laboratory system of sensor is designed in this thesis. The system which realizes the virtual experiments with VRML, ActiveX and Flash technique, is established in websites form based on B/S structure by Dreamweaver. In this thesis, 3D virtual experiment based on VRML and ActiveX technique and 2D virtual experiment based on Flash technique are the two ways of realizing the virtual experiment. The VRML technique, which can build virtual environment in Internet, has vivid 3D vision and excellent interaction that is suitable to create large integrative virtual experiment. For 3D virtual experiment, first experiment models are built by 3D modeling tool and converted into VRML files, next the experiment interaction are realized with the VRML technique. Then virtual experiment instruments are built by ActiveX control provided by Component Works. Finally virtual experiments are made into HTML pages, and JavaScript and VBScript are used to realize the communications among VRML, ActiveX and HTML. The Flash technique, which has the advantage of living, small and easy, is suitable to make experiments of principle demonstrating. In this thesis, the information management system of laboratory user, which is designed and realized with ASP and Access database, standards the use and upkeep of the virtual laboratory by managing the user information, limits of authority and experimental resource. The web-based virtual laboratory has a broad prospect of development. At present, many institutes of home and abroad take it as one of discipline construction project, and the realizing techniques and methods of it are continuing without end. The web-based sensor virtual laboratory system, which is researched and designed in this thesis, provides opening web-based experimental environment for users.
