| Like any other discipline, Archives also have a special study, and some of the terminology used in particular. This terminology is called Archives terminology. Whether Archives terminology is standardized is an important indicator of measuring the maturity of Archives, an important foundation for the development of the theory, an important prerequisite to improve the level of archives research and standardize archives practice. So it's one of the important tasks of archives research that we should promote establishing a unified and standardized Archives terminology. Early in 1984 the International Archives Community had compiled and published the Archives Terminology Dictionary, and we had also standardized a lot of Archives terminology through issuing industry standards Archives Basic Terms and compiling and publishing Archives Dictionary. However, due to various reasons, there are still many problems of the construction and use of Archives terminology: Archives terminology in some areas is very confusing, including ambiguous connotation and denotation; many people use non-standard or even completely Archives terminology in academic research, exchange and use. Therefore, in regard with the realities of our country, this article elaborates the related problems and the corresponding countermeasures of the development and utilization of the Archives terminology, and the author hopes that she can provide some reference with research of it.This article is divided into four parts:The first part discusses the connotation of terminology and Archives terminology, and then it deeply states the characteristics of terminology and the principle on which we choose terms. Archives terminology is an important component of Archives basic theories, so it is of vital significance to the improvement and development. The task that unifies and standardizes Archives terminology is improving Archives terminology system constantly, clearing the connotation and denotation of Archives terminology, removing the confusion of Archives terminology. Standardized Archives terminology has to comply with the following principles: simple certainty, extensive flexibility, overall practicality and the law mandatory, stability and the extension of the collective work.The second part is the body part of this paper. It focuses on the problems and causes in the construction and use of archives terms in our country. This part points out the problems: the lack of forceful terms that some Archives terms can't reveal the depth and accurate records of things enough. It's difficult for people to understand and apply. The writing isn't concise. Archives terminology is to extract and summarize the essence of archives things. It is not good at languages. Poor coordination which is not formed a complete Archives terminology system. The so-called Archives terminology system refers to a set of interrelated and mutually complementary and mutually confirmed the level of vocabulary conceptual structure. POS is not standardized, marking files in the main types of terminology. Semantics is outdated. Archives terminology can't be accomplished overnight, but should be amended in line with the development of the situation timely and perfectly, Semantic full of the flavor of the times in injecting new content, or establishing new terminology. Archives terminology can integrate into the international community, whether it is viewed in historical background, cultural traditions or from the files work on the basis or conditions, there are differences between our country and developed countries, so relevant archives research results can not completely meet the development of Archives theory and practice need in our country. At the same time, this part also analyzes the causes of these problems: there are differences in understanding of archives, archives work and archives management system; theory is far from practice; Confined to scattered discussion of a small number of terms, archivist haven't entire comprehensive, systematic study from the development of the entire Archives. When some scholars study Archives terminology, they has emerged a tendency of historical nihilism or national nihilism, and advocated completely scrap the existing Archives terminology and reconstruct a new file system terminology, or wholesale Westernization.The third part concerns the problem-solving countermeasures according to the problems of the construction and use of Archives terminology in our country. It should publicize widely to gain understanding and support; a specialized body should be set up to coordinate with the National Organization of standardized Archives terminology; intensive research must be carried out to establish scientific community. The archivists research for reunification from lack of co-ordination; we can improve the work style of research, and enhance the application of Archives terminology; professional training and continuing education should be strengthened, in order to help the archivists absorb and assimilate Archives theories.The fourth part systematically states the principles of the construction and use of Archives terminology in our country: the principle of gradual and orderly progress; the principle of linking theory with practice; the principle of balancing between specialization and popularization; the principle of combining the Chinese with the internationalization.From the construction and use of the existing problems of Archives terminology, building and using of Archives terminology is not an easy thing. However, we believe that with archives scholars, archives workers and the archives institution's efforts, Archives terminology system will consummate gradually and be used by more persons. |
