Design And Implementation Of FEC Based Reliable And Efficient Transmission Framework

These days, computer network has been experiencing a rapid development. As great deal of progress in network technologies and infrastructure has induced many new applications, vary sorts of high-speed and reliable transmission services including bulk data transmission service and real-time stream media transfer service are even more needed. Besides, the wireless network which is rapidly developing also requires appropriate transmission mode to leverage the usage of both wireless and wire-connected IP networks.The thesis analyzed main network transmission protocols currently been used - Transmission Control Protocol and User Datagram Protocol - which indicates that the application of automatic repeat request method for reliable transmission reaches its limitation under certain circumstances and thus causes performance shrinkage.To solve such problems aforementioned, the mathematics statistics of a series of forward error correction code like Raptor code is analyzed. Then, the idea of using FEC code as an underlying mechanism of reliable data transmission protocol is introduced. Based on that, appropriate code-decode method is selected to construct efficient coder-decoder suite, more over, flexible transmission schema and framework - which enables vary coding-decoding methods as error correction algorithms along with extensible session control strategies -are analyzed to suit various data transfer applications.Last, the thesis constructs a transmission architecture that utilizes FEC code as underlying reliability assurance and interpreted how to implement every functionality aspect that is needed. Then the thesis introduces a practical case of reliable file transmission application which is analyzed to make a contrast with other protocols and the ideas of how to construct an efficient and high-performance system.
