With the quick development of Information society, tourism information sources has become more and more huge, so that people often spend a lot of time to select useful tourism information and make a decision. Tourists have more mature and rational ideas and various demands for tourisms, which read the tourism information service has more difficulties. The current tourism information systems can't satisfy sufficiently users' demands. So recently, personalized tourism information service and user modeling technologies which is one of the key problems of personalization has attracted much attention of researchers. After analyzing and comparing current user modeling technologies, the paper proposes that ontology is used to describe knowledge and user model, and build a tourism information system under ontology based system framework, and provide semantic and pragmatic information for tourism domain sources and user model to achieve personalized tourism information service. We propose an ontology-based user's item vector space representation of user model. This approach which integrates item-based user model and ontology database, can obtain more descriptive ability than item-based model and more extendable ability than ontology-based approach. We improve current term-based information recommendation algorithm. The experiments show that the current recommendation algorithm only considers the relationship of terms without considering the semantic relationship of terms, so that the recommendation results aren't sufficiently accepted by users. After joined ontology and semantic relationship of terms, the results gained from this approach can be accepted by user easer and intelligence of user model is approbated by users.
