Semantic Web, as the extension of the current World Wide Web, has been a hot research all over the world. The concept layer of the Semantic Web architecture is ontology, which is composed of concepts and the relations between them. In addition to the present of web ontology language OWL, ontology can be used to describe domain knowledge, so more and more people start to use ontology to develop knowledge system based ontology.In the technical system of Semantic Web, ontology storage and querying technology is a core technology and worthwhile research. Ontology storage and querying technology mainly refers to the following aspects: ontology reasoning , ontology storage patterns, ontology knowledge querying and updating . In this thesis, the author mainly does some research about ontology storage and querying technology. The main innovations of this dissertation is listed as follows:(1) In viewing of the incomplete compatibility between OWL and RDFS, the author suggests that the support to OWL semantics should be built on the base of support to RDFS semantics. The author gives two kinds of methods, rule extension based method and DIG interface based method, to expand RDFS reasoning to support OWL semantics, and prove it to be feasible through experimental system.(2) The current main storage patterns of ontology, which is based on relation database system, have their own limitations and don't fit to store large-scale ontology. In this dissertation, combining the merits of horizontal pattern, vertical pattern and decomposable pattern, the author realizes one hybrid pattern to store large-scale ontology with higher structure stability and querying efficiency.(3) Discusses an important application of ontology storage and querying technology—ontology-based knowledge management system. The author designs a framework of three-layer knowledge management system, and makes suggestions to the development of ontology- based knowledge management system.This paper gives the solutions to solve the two problems above, which has positive effect to the research and exploitation of ontology storage and querying tools.
