Stuart Hall is the top academic leader of Birmingham School and is also famous for his contributions he made to the cultural studies in Britain. His fame doesn't lie in any random book he wrote, but the scattered essays and prefaces of his collected works. Through text analysis to such essays and prefaces, Hall's communication ideas in the field of cultural studies can be mainly categorized three parts, that is his philosophy of communication criterion in ideological field, his communication semeiological idea about cultural circulation and Hall's model which opens up a new horizon for the research to audiences. Hall's theory is not a closed determinism and it never deviates from his aim of opening up the strategies of the power bloc to critical inspection, and opening up the democratic processes to those who would use them to advance democracy.
