In recent years, with the high speed development of virtual reality, mechanical design and manufacture technology has been combined with computer technology, network technology, communication technology, sensor technology and information technology, then bring about the advanced manufactural technologies such as virtual manufacture(VM), network manufacture, concurrent design and so on. The large scale display system which is composed by multi-projection possesses the advantage of wide angle of view, high immersion and supporting multi-user. So make it be the interaction terminal of display information for virtual design and manufacture is definitely a good choice. In particular, with high speed development of PC performance these years, building multi-projection virtual environments systems driven by PC cluster has become a research hot.However, the building and application of the large scale display system that designed for virtual design application are annoying. In order to solve these problems, the auto edge blending, color calibration and interaction technologies of the large scale display system are investigated detailly in this dissertation. The main contributions are listed as following.First of all, a fast and flexible automate edge blending method was presented. The correlation work including position acquiring method using camera as the feedback instrument, luminance attenuation algorithm in overlap area and multi-texture technology were discussed. With the good independence and expansibility, this method can be used to fast build multi-projection immersive virtual environment system.Secondly, based on the lucubrating for the reason of the color nonuniformity in large scale display system, a intensity calibration algorithm was presented. This algorithm can be realized easily and rapidly, and it also can compensate the luminance attenuation made by the application of multi-texture technology. At the same time, the evaluation model to intensity calibration quality was discussed, and the chrominance matching was analyzed.Thirdly, concerned with the flat interaction of the most large scale display system, the corresponding interactive technologies were researched. Then the interaction function of Logitech force-feedback joystick was developed.At Last, based on the work on the key technologies of large scale display system, a interface for multi-projection display management was developed with the OpenGL language. A visual simulation system for SMR based on cylinder display and the application in video were also developed. At the end of the paper, the sum up and prospect were listed.
