With the development of the Internet and information technology, remote monitoring system has become a kind of important auxiliary equipment which is also used widely in daily life. Especially for those people who are not at home or handicapped of inconvenient action, and when they want to get information about home situation at any time. They can know everything in home by the home image monitoring point and Internet. What's more, they can also carry on some simple control of IA at home, for instance: Air-condition, TV, electric cooker etc. Really nobody is at home, but somebody on business which will bring convenience to daily life.In this paper, a kind of home remote monitoring system based on the singlechip is developed. It can be used in the family facility and power plant monitorings. By extending functions, the system can also have the capacity of guarding against theft, fire prevention, giving an alarm and so on.At present mainstream remote monitoring systems on the market adopt PC or 32 bit SCM,ARM,FPGA etc for their core structure. The shortcoming of these schemes including: excessive cost , the long and complicated development period and difficult popularization.This system uses the core of UBICOM corporation 8 bit high speed MCU and virtual software package plan along with the image sensor JPEG232 module. Through TCP/IP protocols, the system can transmit real-time image monitorings and IA control instructions. Because UBICOM corporation's SX52BD100 SCM instruction can run at the speed of 100MIPS, it is definitely able to meet the needs. This kind of design does not need many special equipment, and have fewer peripheral equipments, low cost, whose development is also simeple. Moreover its expansibility is very strong, and it can be used in many situations. Therefore this system has the general economic benefit and the wide commercial prospect which means big practical value and economic value.The paper is mainly consist of the following parts: the development situation of remote monitoring and information appliances, the system design of hardware and software, including the programme of image data gathering and disposal, TCP/IP protocol stack rewrite and replant, serial port (including RS232,I~2C ) drivers, the related programmes of Web pages control. At last, debug the system and show the debugging result. Aiming at the present system problems, redesign system hardware.
