Cardiovascular disease is one of the most dangerous threats to human being. Generally, this kind of diseases is diagnosed by electrocardiogram (ECG). As a result, the exact and effective way to sample and transmit ECG signal is very significant in clinical medicine. With the quick development of the Internet, Embedded and some other technologies, some new solutions to the ECG monitoring are emerging. This paper is intent to introduce that an ECG signal monitoring system based on Ethernet. It realizes the Internet monitoring while the embedded ECG signal sampling equipment connects to the Internet through Ethernet by using TCP/IP. Besides, the system has the function of Holter which may realize a long-time storage and upload historical ECG data to medical center. In the paper, we design a special signal amplifying and adjusting circuit to pick up the ECG signal. S3C44B0X, a high performance and low power ARM microprocessor, is selected as the kernel of the system, on which some function interfaces are needed to extend, such as memory, ADC, Ethernet and so on. An open-source embedded operating system namedμClinux is used to manage the tasks of the system. The processes of migrating and achieving are given in the paper. The ECG signal monitoring system based on Ethernet may fully utilize the great advantage of Internet to enhance the efficiency of diagnoses and prevention. It also has some basic supports to the coming fresh technologies, such as telemedicine, home health care, expert consultation and so on.
