A Discussion On The Art Of Sports-News Reporting

Since the Opening and Reform Policy was taken, the quality and quatity of the Chinese sports reporting has met dramatic boosting. With the forthcoming 2008 Beijing Olympics, the social influence of Chinese sports report will be greatly improved. Generally, modern sports are composed of Common Sports for the sake of pulic health, School Sports for the growth of youths, and Competitive Sports for entertainment.In this paper, we focus on the news reporting for the Competitive Sports.We first give a prelimenary analysis of the speciality of facts of sports news, i.e. timing, environment, good-looking, tactics, based on which six characteristics are summarized for the competitive sports news reporting. The key part of argumentation is placed over artistics of sports-news reporting, discussing how to achieve reporting-artistic from perspectives of languages, styles, and good-feeling, meaning how to report artistically. In association with the social economy background, this paper fully examines the present situation of competitive sports news reporting of newspapers by pointing out achievements as well as negative effects. Moreover, theoratical analysis is conducted with TiTan Sports and Football, two famous professional sports papers, as typical examples, trying to figure out solutions to the commonplace problems residing on those two papers. In the final part, suggestions are given on how to realize the social functionalities of competitive sports to the full extent.
