Ultrasonic flaw detection has entered the times of automatic testing and compute-aided flaw identification with the rapid development of techniques in electronics, computer, signal process etc. This article mainly researched the Ultrasonic Automatic test technology of the middle and Small Modulus Gear weld .The system is based on ultrasonic pulse-echo principle, and has the function of automatic flaw detection, Signal Processing and Automatic interpretation.According to the system specification, some ideas on system design,detection method, control method and programming are discussed, and some designs on the structure and function of the system , mechanical design and hardware options have been done. Detection methods mainly consist of Testing Methods, Optimization wave, Block design and Automatic interpretation of test results. The Design of the control method is mainly the control card which is centered at MCU and can control crack detector and data acquisition card, as well as communicate with the industrial control computer. The control card uses the 89C52 microcomputer as controller, take the benchmark frequency source, the phase-lock link and the timer precisely produced each kind of trigger pulse signal which the system needs, use the bus buffer and solid state relay to realize the hand-off control from single channel to multi-channels. The system software has been programmed using Visual basic with MFC having friendly interfaced between the computer and people. It has the functions of parameter inputting, error positioning, real-time controlling, inspection displaying and file saving and printing.
