Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) is the core technology andFoundation of implementing CALS strategy, IETM maintain and manage equipmentwhole lifecycle information and data include develop data, design data, productiondata, usage data, maintenance data etc. in integrated model. IETM can providereal-time, high-efficiency technical guidance and information support for theequipment maintainer, meantime, IETM can also solve a series of problems astime-consuming, laborious, time-lapse limitations which appeared in traditionalpaper-based manual's usage and management mode. Therefore, IETM play a moreand more important role on improving the logistics guarantee level of equipmentsystem, it's to be the trend of new Technical Manual development, The research ofIETM's irrelevant theory also is being research hotspots.To build an IETM system which is advanced, open-structure, meet the need ofcomplex equipment that used now and in future is important for shortening repair time,excute fault diagnosis quickly and accurately, improving matainer self-trainning leveland the equipment maintainance efficiency. After read and analyzed lots of home andabroad literatures, this thesis expounded the background, development, relevanttechnics of IETM roundly; then the thesis constructed fifth-level IETMstructure, desingned and developed prototype system on the base of fault diagnosistechnics and Polychromatic Sets Model. The main research work and innovativecontributions of this thesis are as the following:Firstly, IETM which is the foundation and key technology of CALS is researched,Discussed the IETM role in CALS, introduced the IETM development, classificationand standard system status, analyzed the key technologies of cteating IETM inS1000D.Secondly, Studied the representation of automobile engine knowledge andconstructing method of knowledge base. Established hierarchical classification modelof automobile engine, Represented the automobile engine knowledge with ProductivePresentation and Object Representation, Established automobile engine knowledge base, Prepared for IETM with data module.Thirdly, Described the characristics of IETM units, analyzed hierarchicalclassification model and Polychromatic Sets model synthetically,Established "component-fault"model using Polychromatic Sets Thory. Then onthe foundation of above, implemented quick-fault clearance and diagnosis processthrough interaction between users and interface.Finally, designed and developed 2JZ-GE fifth-level instance system, realized theintegration between fouth-level and expert system, verified the flow, model and thoryabove-mentioned.
