WLAN refers to the computer LAN using wireless transmission medium. With the WLAN technology rapid development, WLAN security issue has become a focus of concern. For using public electromagnetic wave as the carrier of the WLAN, it is not easy to prevent the actions of exceeding authority to gain and wiretapping. Security issues Shackled the rapid and healthy development of WLAN seriously. Accroding to the three of WLAN security threats (wireless eavesdropping, the status pretending and modifying data), by using the existing WLAN authentication mechanism and combining RSA public key system and MD5 hash function, this paper presentes a new WLAN digital signature authentication mechanism based on RSA public key scheme .The scheme defines an entity which named ASU (Authentication Service Unit). This entity manages the certificate needed by all quarters participating in the information exchange (including creating, issuing, revoking and updating the certificate).ASU authenticates STA and AP in WLAN system by the certificates;the scheme uses the link of Authentication to prevent the breeding of WLAN bugs effectively. The Whole scheme provided many services such as certification and authentication,integrity,non-repudiation and so on. Algorithm is mature, credible and easy to implement. At the last part of this paper, we conducted Safety Assessments on the algorithms and the scheme itself. The scheme has been applied in the monitoring and controlling system. The result is that the scheme is feasible.
