Research On WLAN Security Mechanism

In the world rangs, Wireless local area network (WLAN) has got ever-broader use. However, due to the openness of its channels, WLAN faces severe security problems.To strengthen its security property,various kinds of security mechanisms and protocols have been proposed,but no convincing WLAN security solution has been achieved. In this paper, the development of WLAN and several related security theories are introduced at first; then the industrial standards.the main security problems confronted,and the various kinds of security mechanisms and protocols used nowadays are studied.and their advantages and disadvantages are analyzed. Based on those analysis, a digital certificate solution based on elliptic curve Cryptosystem (ECC) is proposed. The solution gives a detailed description of the principles of ECC, digital certificate management, digital signauture check and encrypted key management, and realized the functions including bi-directional ID authentication, confidential message transmit, and message integrity check.A management strategy of WLAN is also proposed,which can enhance the security performance of WLAN overall.
