On The Renovation Of Journalistic Conception From Newspaper Page Designing Of The Perspective Of The Alteration

Since the birth of newspaper, the form of newspaper page has been transforming from its original book form, until obtaining its unique features of journalistic printing and page designing. The renovation of journalistic page designing since the later half of the 1990s has become the most outstanding through the process of alteration. Since then more renewed page designing methods take the place of the domination by several few trends. Therefore, newspaper becomes more attractive with the designers' more attention on the form of the page, providing the audience with a visual feast. The change of page designing from the past seriousness and stiffness to the present vividness and liveliness, results in more colorful expressions of newspaper. The transformation reflects the renovation of journalistic conception. The relation between newspaper and the reader changes from the "to instruct and to be instructed" mode in the age of planned economy to "information provider and information consumer" mode in the age of marketing economy, with the audience as the center. The underlying principles of page designing, which seem more humanistic, have become "easy to read" and "getting pleasure in reading".On the other hand, we should be alert of the trend of vulgarization of some newspapers with the purpose of flattering the audience with little information. Renovation in page designing is necessary, but as some people have pointed out, news-reporting is becoming less journalistic and less guiding of the public opinion, all the newspapers are stereotyped without any freshness.This paper will try to expound the renovation of journalistic conception by analyzing the alteration of newspaper page designing. The author also tries to pop some rational and constructive suggestions in order to balance the form and content of newspaper, and to facilitate the healthy development of newspaper page renovation.
