The Study Of McLuhan's Theory Of Medium

This paper is a study of McLuhan's theory of medium. It is structured with five parts. In the introduction of this paper, I looked back to many scholars'achievements about his theory, and pointed out three shortages. Chapter one is the second part, which dealing with McLnhun's theory of medium. My purpose is not to re-tell what he said, but to make a logical system from the articles and books he wrote. I discussed three important concepts and three very significant principles. I point out that all McLuhan's effort in study medium is to paint a picture for man who was living in modern time. The third part of this paper is chapter two, which explores the origin of McLuhan's theory. The first origin is literature theory, especially the American theory called New Criticism. The second origin is the theory about tech which has arouse during his time. And the last but not least origin came from anther Canadian named Harold Innis. The forth part is chapter three, in which my aim is to evaluate him in three different dimensions: as a tech theorist, a post-modernist and a communication theorist. In the last part of this paper, I simply wrote something about the life of McLuhan.
