Research On Reading Media Changes Based On McLuhan Theory

Media technology has a long history,since ancient times.Developments in media technology media technology has been accompanied and influenced the development of society.In the 1960 s,Mc Luhan proposed a pioneering media view,emphasizing the important value of media itself to society,and regarded the social change caused by media technology as a necessity of historical development.He explained to people that media technology plays a vital role in the development of human society through theories such as "the medium is the information","the medium as an extension of man","hot and cold medium" and "global village".Fields such as communication studies and literature are rife with explorations of media technology,which include commentaries on characters and paradigms,but lack a combination of specific media.Nowadays,the exploration of the philosophy of media technology is slowly moving closer to the research of specific technology,coupled with new media developments,it can be seen that the media has an important impact on society.In response to this,this paper aims to explore the impact of media changes by taking Mc Luhan's theory as an entry point.Combined with the development of reading media,this paper has been deeply studied and analyzed from the evolution of the reading media from the perspective of technical philosophy.Firstly,this paper expounds the basic content of Mc Luhan's media theory and developments in media technology,defines the connotation and characteristics of Mc Luhan's theory,and analyzes the influence of media technology on individual perception,thinking mode and social development;Then,this paper analyzes the development of reading media in detail,and divides the development of reading media into two stages: traditional reading and digital reading.The development of reading media has experienced changes from slate,tortoise shell,papyrus,etc.to mobile device terminals.In the era of traditional reading,paper reading is the most important way of reading.When the era of digital reading comes,the reading carrier changes to be dominated by computers and mobile phones,and people rely more on the pleasure brought by the advantages of fast,portable,and rich information dissemination.Next,we further explore the influence of media on reading behavior,and conclude that reading behavior has changed from niche reading to public reading,from systematic reading to fragmented reading,and from one-way reading to interactive reading.The difference of media leads to the difference of people's reading behavior,reading mode and thinking mode.Finally,it explores the influence of Mc Luhan's media theory on the development of reading,and at the same time conducts multi-dimensional thinking on the development of reading media.A human reading history is a history of the evolution of technological media.The reading media has moved from physical objects to paper,and then from paper to screens.Along with the constant change of reading media,the social cultural process and development have also undergone important changes.Meanwhile,the social development is affecting the evolution of reading media technology.Therefore,this article is based on the field of view of information technology philosophy,and explores the influence of Mc Luhan Media on reading and development,and clarifying human reading cognitive development and the close relationship between medium technology.
