The Research And Application Of The Lightweight Workflow Engine Based On The J2EE Platform

Workflow technology is a technique which could be used to achieve business process automation, and it is applied abroad in different industries in a rapid developing stage. As the core of the Workflow technology, workflow engine has already become a hot focus to research.Currently, in the process of workflow engine's exploitations and applications, it has a kind of trend to be after all-around functions, and this trend also brings some problems, for instance too many applications having workflow's characters. In fact, there is almost no workflow engine that could explain or implement all flows perfectly, it's always hard to control the cost of exploitations and applications on workflow system with bringing in complicated workflow engine, and these products are not available for some medium and small projects. However, lightweight workflow has plenty of advantages such as a short development cycle, easy to use , more flexible and extensible. It would be a good solution for some medium and small projects.Based on a standard of WfMC, this dissertation presents a lightweight workflow model with the analysis and research on some existing workflow techniques and products. And then, it provides us with the methods to design and explore the lightweight workflow engine by using the EJB module technology of J2EE platform.
