Remote control of robot is a valid method in space exploring, deep sea prospecting, dangerous condition working and others. With the development of Internet technique and increase of transmission speed through Web, the inexpensive convenience communication approach is provided for the remote control systems of robot. Applications of remote control are being wider over Internet. Advantages are shown in some fields such as remote medical treatment, devices share and long distance education. In this paper, an Internet-based remote control system for mobile robot is studied. According to the properties of Internet, a browser based multi-layered distributed remote control system of mobile robot is built for experiment.In this article, a new project of network application using J2EE components based on Java is presented, which develop the network application of control system. And the application of Struts in Web development is mainly discussed, the use of EJB in application logics design is described, the data consistency between application server and databases and the application of robot native control system with JNI are discussed.The system employs three-layered based J2EE structure and Web service, which enables the system to be more flexible, scalable and compatible. With J2EE and Web service techniques, remote control platform for mobile robot not only possesses the merits of two techniques and improves the scalability and reusability but also makes all members to pay more attention to the design and development on functions of the platform.Remote control platform of mobile robot is a distributed application system that is mainly divided into three structure modules, which involve Web server model is combined with layout part and logic part, application server module is combined with user management part and environment information sample part, and controller module is combined with native control part and communication part.At last, the control system is tested, the results show the system capacity is stable, and validates the feasibility and correctness of the system.
