Software Design And Realization Of Interactive Cable STB Based On Broadcom BCM7111

In recent years, the transition step from analog TV to digital TV has become obviously faster and faster. As a bridge of transition between analog TV and digital TV, digital TV set top boxes can make the users of analog TV sets enjoy the merit of digital TV. Therefore, there are important practical significance to study the design and exploitation of software system for digital TV set top box.The interactive cable digital TV set top box we described is designed on the Broadcom Corporation's BCM7111 chip (STB7111). This paper studies STB7111 system software and implements the function modules including VOD, Conditional Access and Securities Market Analysis. The content of this dissertation is divided into seven parts:The first part introduces the developing status of digital TV and describes the classification and functions of digital TV set top box.The second part describes the basic theories related of digital TV set top box, based on these researches, we put forward a kind of hardware and software architecture of STB7111 design. The third part describes software structure,Linux developing and debugging software environment of STB7111 in detail.The fourth part describes the main functions of VOD module at first, then discusses the developing details of network communication and PAT, PMT section analysis and gives the method for solve problems that met in developing process.The fifth part discusses the basic theories of Conditional Access system. Base on this researches, we introduces the Stream Guard, a CAS which developed by Sumavision Corporation, and the work of porting it to set top box.The sixth part introduces the data broadcasting, a DVB specification used for data broadcast module of Securities Market Analysis system, gives the way for realization of data receiving and GUI on STB and solve the problems that appeared in application.The seventh part makes the summary of this paper, and prospects the new technology of digital TV set top box.The interactive cable digital TV STB which we designed answers for the DVB-C specification, the design method is advance, and the product has been made in batches.
