Therefore, there are important science values and practical meanings to exploit and design STB software and the solutions of Digital TV.The thesis introduces the theory about DVB and technology of software about set top box.Firstly the thesis introduces the development of digital video broadcast, the hot point of current research and appliance and the meanings of this project.Secondly thesis introduces architecture of DVB standards and protocol briefly, especially MPEG-2 transport multiplex standards.Thirdly the thesis gives the principle and frame of Set top box, describes the hardware and software architecture, introduces the STi5518 chip feature and then makes a brief introduction of the embedded operation system platform, STLite/OS20 real-time kernel of ST incorporation.The thesis introduces the design of partial software modules of Set top box.Finally the thesis introduces the Conditional Access System of DVB and the low cost solution about Digital TV.
