Wireless Measurement Research And Application For GSM-R System

With the development of high speed railway and passenger dedicated railway, GSM-R is developing fast in China. Various applications have been experimented on different lines. How to guarantee the reliability of the communication and make a good effort to avoid disconnection is becoming an important question for GSM-R deployment. By introducing the wireless measurement principle of GSM-R, this paper applies wireless measurement to network optimization and utilize wireless measurement to find problem and make network evaluation. Also, this paper provides some improved plans for wireless measurement in high speed situation.This paper first introduces the development actuality of GSM-R domestic and abroad , the GSM-R services and network structure, then explains the meaning of parameters used in wireless measurement and ways of measuring and expressing these parameters.The mobile station performs different measurement tasks while it is idle, using signaling channel, using traffic channel , using packet channel. This paper introduces the measurement contents of mobile station and base station, ways of sending measurement result and measurement result calculation.This paper presents schemes which implements wireless measurement on network optimization and network performance evaluation according to the characters of wireless measurement. It gives plans to use wireless measurement to determine the cause of disconnection and its location for network optimization. It also offers way of using wireless measurement for network quality evaluation, and compares it to the existent methods. By changing measurement report period and setting timer dynamically according to measurement result to asure the reliability in high speed environment is also introduced in this paper, related analyzes are presented too. At last, the weakness and future research are also pointed out.
