The paper studies the simulation of virtual ocean scene and the work in the following four aspects of the research field is performed. Firstly, presents a method of simulating 3D shallow waves based on random wave mode and wave spectrum, and then it uses the wave spectrum to control ocean waves. In order to obtain perfect real waves effect, the author offers the methods of image processing for improving the detail vision, color, illumination of waves. Moreover, it simulates 3D shallow waves. The simulation of ship wave is also researched in this paper. Secondly, it's the simulation of skyboxes. It studies the method to simulate vivid skyboxes on the basis of constructing a hexahedron or sphere grid point and texture mapping. Thirdly, researches and implements the simulation of the natural phenomena such as dynamic clouds, fog and lighting. A method of simulating dynamic clouds is provided based on Diamond-Square algorithm in fractals geometry, vertex shaking and texture moving. Fog and lighting are only set up using the library function of OpenGL. Finally, constructs a terrain on the basis of fractals algorithm to simulate the benthal terrain, and then the multi-resolving display and roam control is implemented in this paper.
